- "Stord is just right in size with a fine balance between city and countryside. This, combined with a 'forward-leaning' industry, provides good opportunities to find a good balance between exciting workplaces and a nice place to live."

  • What type of company do you work for? HYDS is a newly established company that will develop, own, and operate facilities producing green hydrogen. Currently, we have two facilities in operation and are working on several exciting projects.

  • How did you get this job? I applied for the position as a project manager when it was advertised. I had prior knowledge of my leader in HYDS through the local Tekna group..

  •  Why was it interesting to you? It excited me to be part of a company in the startup phase since I have experience from larger established companies in the Oil and Gas industry. It was also perfect that this was an energy company focusing on the green shift.

  • What does your work involve? As a project manager, I am responsible for realizing the projects we are to conduct. This involves working together with our project developers in the early phase and then taking over to ensure detailing through technical deliveries such as drawings and design, selection of main components, following up contractors and engineering partners, contact with authorities, etc. This must be done within the planned time and budget, with Health, Environment, and Safety prioritized. In other words, a varied everyday life where I am involved in many the different phases of the project.

  • Why did you choose to work and settle in Sunnhordland? Before ending up in Sunnhordland, we lived 4 years in Kristiansand. Bad times in the oil industry led us to move back to the West Coast, and Stord, which just then had received large contracts through the construction of the living quarters for Johan Sverdrup, offered good job opportunities. It is also to be said that the great help we have gotten from the in-laws (who live in the neighbourhood) over the years we have lived here has made it possible for me and my wife to pursue careers that sometimes require a bit of traveling. We are very grateful for that.

  • What is especially good about living here, apart from the job? Stord is a good representation of the West Coast in miniature. The short distance to the sea and mountains offers unique opportunities for outdoor activities. And if one, as a person from Sunnmøre, wishes for higher mountains, there is a short distance to great mountain hikes in Kvinnherad or Hardanger. Besides nature, Stord has a rich sports and cultural life which has provided us as a family with children many opportunities to meet nice people and pursue various hobbies.

  • What are your tips for others considering moving to Sunnhordland? If you haven’t been here before, Sunnhordland is worth a visit. Upgraded roads mean that travel time from Bergen has been significantly reduced in recent years. In addition, Stord is just right in size with a fine balance between city and countryside. This, combined with a "forward-leaning" industry, provides good opportunities to find a good balance between exciting workplaces and a nice place to live.

  • A perfect workday for me is:  Filled with varied tasks, either at the office with good colleagues, at one of our facilities, or visiting a customer or collaboration partner. Unforeseen problems that require cooperation or decisions to be solved often arise. That's when I thrive.
